~~~~~~ PERSONALITY[/b]
Personality:
A very stubborn and strong willed young lady, but is a very calm, down to earth person. Rational and realistic to the point where she can seem apathetic or will even hurt herself. Very patient and rarely loses her temper, unless people are being particularly pigheaded or stupid.
Possesses a very strong devotion to Truth and Good, but is always willing to give someone a second chance, or third, or fourth, etc. Due to her trustfulness, she has landed herself in many a sticky situation and is never willing to give up hope on people. This is one the reasons she stuck by her best friend and bonded dragon, Nestor – better known as The Midnight Dragon nowadays. But she’s a much better judge of character than she used to be.
Thae’a is a very closed book kinda person. She doesn’t willing share her past or secrets with just anyone, she’s been burned one too many times. She will tell you what you need to know and little else unless she really trusts you.
~~~~~~ HISTORY[/b]
History:
Born to Brorin and Baetha Smith, a Blacksmith and a Baker’s daughter, Thae’a grew up in poverty. Her father was a decent smith, but not exceptional, he specialized in horseshoes, farm tools, and cast-iron crockery. Baetha, however is an exceptional baker and accomplished pastry chef. Even after her marriage to Borin (who’s forage was directly across the way from the Bakery) she continued to work for her father and eventually inherited it from her father. Her specialty is pumpkin dumplings and apricot crepes.
Borin and Baetha had two children: Thae’a and Yeshu. The two were born eighteen months apart, thus were very close. Her parents discovered Thae’a’s aptitude for magic when she was barely more than two and set her doll on fire during a temper tantrum. Fire runs in the family and both her parents had it (in minor degrees) and her brother also developed the skill. Though none quite had magic like Thae’a. Because both her parents worked, it fell to Thae’a to raise her brother. So while Mama was at Grampapa’s bakery and Papa was in the forage, Thae’a cleaned the house and played with her brother on the front lawn for most the day. It was one of these average days when Thae’a was four that a strange man with cat-like eyes was travelling through their small town and he passed the Smith’s house. Thae’a and Yeshu were playing with a few cast off horseshoes when the stranger passed by.
Thae’a doesn’t remember any of this, but her mother told her of it since she was standing in the doorway of the bakery stirring up some batter when she saw her young daughter run to the fence, thrust her pudgy hands through the slats, and begin screaming and babbling in childish laughter at the stranger. Thae’a had always been wary of strangers before so this worried Baetha and she hurried over to her home. When she reached the yard, the stranger had squatted down and was laughing at her daughter. He was at that moment reaching out to touch Thae’a’s grasping fingers when Baetha swooped in, snatching her daughter away. At this, Thae’a screamed as if she had been hurt, struggling against her mother’s hold. The odd stranger introduced himself as Nestor Pyre, he was a Dragon and a member of the elite Dragon Council, and this little girl, he told Baetha, was to be his bonded human. This, of course, freaked Baetha out. At this time in history, Dragons were respected and not feared, but the thought of losing her daughter so young to become a Dragon’s chosen human frightened her. She begged Nestor not to bond to her baby, or at least to return when Thae’a was older and could make the choice for herself. Nestor agreed.
When Thae’a was ten Nestor returned and Thae’a went to live the Dragons and learn to master her magic and how to better the Kingdom’s bond with the Dragons through her being a Bonded Human.
When Thae’a was 26, she nearly died in a battle with a rogue Dragon. Nestor couldn’t bear to lose his human so he offered her a piece of his heart to continue living. Live she did, but it wasn’t quite what she expected. She now had a Dragon’s heart keeping her own beating and it fueled her life beyond the expectancy of a normal human’s. Her heart was linked to Nestor’s and forever would be. She was there when Nestor slowly became corrupted as they watched the rift between humans and Dragons grow. Nestor never let on to Thae’a the full extent of his corruption. Their bond became corrupted and flawed and it was no longer a constant connection as it had been. Now, they could choose to block the other from their mind and thoughts. And it took Thae’a about fifty years to figure out that he had ‘gone bad’. Then another fifty years to realize she couldn’t change his mind or change him, having granted him thousands of second chances. And that’s when she left to seek the Good humans and Dragons who could restore order to their world. She would assist them in any way she could: she is Nestor’s weakness and knows many of his secrets.
